Easy Dresses to Wear at Home

Since self isolation has pretty much just consisted of me living in joggers and bodysuits so far, I thought it was time to get some of my favourite dresses out of my wardrobe and give them the limelight that they deserve! I actually found it very refreshing putting on a summer dress yesterday to work from home, as it instantly put me in a good mood. So it’s important to remember that just because we’re in lockdown, it doesn’t mean we can’t feel good about ourselves and dress things up at home…

Below are just a few of my favourite dresses that I consider to be perfect for lazing around the house and watching TV in style. All of these dresses were under £20 so it just goes to show you don’t need to spend a fortune to make yourself feel good. Plus, as soon as lockdown is over you can wear these dresses for so many different occasions by dressing them up or down using simple accessories.

First up, is this very simple but stunning black midi dress from Zara. I bought this dress last summer for an amazing £12.99 – it was a no brainer! It’s come in so handy for wearing to the airport, wearing on holiday (through the day and evening), and also just wearing for days out in the summer with a pair of chunky trainers or sandals. It is by far one of the comfiest dresses that I own and I just couldn’t live without it in summer. It’s so effortless, and perfect to chuck on in the house as it makes you feel put together in only a few of seconds… It also has a small slit up the back of the dress which makes it extremely flattering and it’s a lovely addition to set it apart from just an ordinary black midi. Zara currently offer four different colours of this dress and they have free delivery on all orders at the moment so if you’re tempted I’d just recommend sizing up as the fabric isn’t that stretchy! I wear size M.

Next is this gorgeous safari inspired dress from Nasty Gal. This is my go to summer dress for lunches out, drinks with friends or just a day of shopping in Leeds. Because of it’s very neutral and muted tones, it’s extremely easy to style and means that it is bound to go with something you already have lurking in your wardrobe… I think this style of dress is lovely to slip on at home if you’re having dinner outside in the garden with your family, or if you’re just going on your daily walk around your village and want to feel a bit more put together. I absolutely love the pocket and belt detailing on this dress, alongside the tortoiseshell buttons, as it just makes the dress so wearable for everyday activities whilst also making you look super chic.

Lastly, I have picked out this H&M Jersey Playsuit; although it isn’t actually a dress, it is one of the comfiest things I own and it is ideal for lounging around the house in. I simply paired this with a plain black belt to make it look a little more sophisticated and less like a set of pyjamas… This outfit would look great in the summer paired with some chunky trainers, an oversized tote bag and a pair of your favourite sunnies. This playsuit was also only £12.99 which is such a great price for a summer staple that you will get loads of wear out of. Plus, if you’re feeling daring you can even layer it up in spring with a white tee underneath!
