Summer in the City with Saint and Sofia

If you’re a religious reader of my blog posts, you’ll remember that back at the beginning of the first lockdown, I collaborated with Saint and Sofia on their latest summer collection. Well, guess who’s back again with another collaboration! I first worked with Saint and Sofia after I had hit just 600 followers over on my Instagram (crazy, I know!), and I was absolutely gobsmacked that a brand as sophisticated and curated as Saint and Sofia wanted to gift me some of their newest collection to post on my socials and blog. Now you may think I’m bias, but if you haven’t checked out Saint and Sofia already – then you really ought to, because they certainty aren’t one to miss.

They are the epitome of classic and sophisticated style that is fair and sustainable to our planet; they produce the best of the best when it comes to quality and flair. In other words, they really are one of a kind. Back in March, they launched their new spring/summer ‘Blooming’ collection via a show stopping live catwalk on their Instagram which I tuned into on the launch date – if you follow me over on Instagram, you may remember me sharing this with you guys via my story. The pieces looked absolutely beautiful on the catwalk and I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new collection! A couple of weeks ago, their lovely team kindly sent me a few pieces to add to my summer wardrobe, and to share with you all over on here, and my Instagram.

Saint and Sofia really aren’t like any other brand that I can think of. Much of their inspiration comes from modern culture, art and music, and this is definitely evident to see in

all of their stunning designs. Their pieces are made from the finest materials in Italy with artisan craftsmen, and each tailored garment is made with detailed precision by hand. And although they currently operate solely online, I have just found out that they are opening their first ever stores in London later on in the year – how exciting! I absolutely can’t wait!

What is also really great about this brand, is that they cater for all shapes and sizes – ranging from size UK 6 to UK 22, and offering petite, regular and tall inseam options for all customers. Their SS21 Collection is packed full of optimism, energy and colour, making up for the uncertainty and anxiety this year has provided many of us with. Their warm weather classics such as puff sleeve cotton dresses, linen boiler suits and lightweight wide leg trousers are now elevated with new, fresh prints and flecks of colour running through their quintessential cotton whites.

Since we can’t go away very far this summer, I thought it would be a really fun idea to style some of the pieces that I thought were fit for a UK getaway, whether you’re going away with friends, family, your boyfriend, or simply a solo trip to escape lockdown life for a little, we all need, and deserve, a little trip away this summer. These outfits are also the perfect answer for any day out in your nearest city when you fancy nipping out for a spontaneous lunch date or to hit the shops.

For reference, I am wearing all items in UK size 10, and I am 5 foot 8 inches.

BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH WITH A SIDE OF SHOPPING

Carnaby Mini Dress – White Broderie – £118

Okay so, I’d be telling a lie if I said I wasn’t completely and utterly obsessed with this white dress! I mean – how perfect is it?! Made from organic cotton and recycled polyester, this sustainable broderie anglaise mini dress is fit for any midsummer occasion. The addition of the ruffled hem detailing is simply stunning, and really makes it stand out from a crowd of any other simple summer dresses.

What I love most about this dress is its versatility. Like the majority of Saint and Sofia’s collection, this dress is easy to adapt for all seasons. As you can see I chose to pair it with some of my fave espadrilles and my little baguette bag for a summers day out brunching and shopping with friends. In the autumn, I would change up the look by throwing a jumper on over the dress and popping on some chunky biker boots… I am sure we can all agree that the best kind of dresses are ones you can wear all year round, so although it looks super summery now – don’t be fooled, because this piece can stay in your wardrobe from spring all the way through until winter!

The quality of this dress is also second to none. In fact, every piece of Saint and Sofia clothing I own is extremely thick and durable, and I just know these pieces will last a lifetime in my wardrobe. This dress also comes in black, so if white isn’t your colour – or you love the style of it but prefer to wear shorter dresses with tights in the winter, I’d suggest going for that one. The 3/4 length arms make it very comfortable, but with button-up cuff detailing, they are easy to adjust as well.

If I’m being completely honest with you, this dress is an absolute dream to wear – and if you don’t believe me go and check out my latest reel that I have posted over on Instagram where you can see the dress in action. It’s airy, cool, and chic, and ticks all of my boxes for the perfect summer day dress.

TIME TO DINE: AL FRESCO STYLE

Galaxy Playsuit – £118. Available in sizes UK 6 to UK 22.

Next up is this beauuuutiful Galaxy Playsuit. I am an absolute sucker for a playsuit in summer; they’re easy to wear, practical and they occasionally offer more shape than just a simple dress. This wrap around detailing is something quite new for my wardrobe to welcome – being small chested, I never actually thought this neckline would be one to suit me, however this playsuit has completely proved me wrong! In fact, I think this style of playsuit is perfect for any shape or size because of how well it has been designed and manufactured. The extra material gives you room to move, and the addition of a small, discreet button on the neckline allows you to adjust the fit specifically for you.

It is made sustainably with a cupro and eco viscose fabric which just flows and falls so nicely. The layering of the shorts adds volume and creates texture without being over the top and uncomfortable. Again, this piece can be worn in the spring, summer, autumn or winter; I chose to pair it with some simple black mules and my baguette bag for a cool, but polished look, ready for an outdoor dinner date.

As the playsuit is the star of this outfit, I chose simple yet complimentary accessories to pair with it. This new signature print by Saint and Sofia is fun, iconic, and eye-catching. With a gorgeous print, comes the opportunity to be able to easily dress the piece up or down. Pair with a simple white trainer for a cool daytime look, knee high boot when you feel like going crazy, or just a straightforward ankle boot for an effortless evening attire.

EXPLORING THE CITY

Ruffle Blouse – Sparkle Fleck – £38

As you guys know, I am a monochrome addict when it comes to clothing – but that’s okay, because Saint and Sofia come to the rescue every single time and help to fulfil my monochrome dreams… I just don’t think you can ever go wrong with black and white. It’s classic, timeless and you know you can rely on it when you’re face to face with an outfit crisis, and the clock starts ticking.

Again, this wrap around detailed top is something very different to my usual style, but it is very much welcomed, and I am very much in love with it. The flecks of gold running through the top with the ruffling detail along the neckline adds a subtle touch of elegance with a whole lot of sophistication. Like all of Saint and Sofia clothing, this top is made sustainably – more specifically, this particular design is made from organic cotton and elastane, and was manufactured in a small European family owned factory. Isn’t it amazing how stylish sustainable clothing can look these days?!

As most of us are aware, in the UK ‘summer’ isn’t really summer. Okay yes, we get the odd few weeks of what we like to call a heatwave, but we also get a whole lot of dodgy, on the verge of raining, kind of weather during the summer months. This can cause us brits a lot of confusion when picking out an outfit at the beginning of our day, and this top is perfect for these kind of situations. The long sleeved, yet breathable qualities of this top make it ideal for the cooler mornings that turn into lovely summer days. You could even wear a simple cami underneath to give you some extra support and warmth in the cooler mornings/evenings.

I decided to pair mine with some classic denim shorts and loafer style slides. This timeless, smart and stylish look would be perfect for roaming the streets of any city, and it is practical enough to withstand any activities that you may get up to. This ruffle blouse also comes in a lovely solid black colour which would look gorgeous paired with some lighter denim and woven accessories.
