I know, I can’t quite believe that 2019 is over and done with already either – but with the New Year only a couple of days away, I thought it was a perfect time to discuss future goals and how to successfully achieve things if you really put your mind to it.
Admittedly, I am the kind of person who sets New Year’s Resolutions every year as I do find them really helpful and a way to motivate myself throughout the whole 365 days of the year. Although it can be quite cringe, I seriously would recommend getting a notepad and writing down things you want to improve on in this coming year. They could be as small as a change in your daily routine, or alternatively, something you personally want to work on that may have a positive effect on others. Whatever your set of goals, I can guarantee that if you take time to jot them down and have them in front of you on paper, then it will automatically make you more determined to achieve them. Also, by doing this it means you can actually tick them off as the year goes on.
Another thing that I do that really helps to motivate me throughout the year is to go on Pinterest and find positive, inspirational quotes. I have made a ‘board’ dedicated to words and quotes, and every time I see a quote that I like and one that makes me feel more motivated, I pin it to my board. Then when it comes to times in the year where I feel a little less motivated than usual, I use the quotes on my board as fuel to increase my productivity and as inspiration to achieve my annual goals.
For 2020, I have quite a few goals I’d like to achieve by the end of the year. Some general, some specific – but all things I want to achieve to make myself a better person. One of my main goals is to stop procrastinating. A classic and generic goal, I know; one that everyone does and one that everyone wants to stop doing. In fact, it’s definitely one that made it on my 2019 goals but still hasn’t been achieved. However, this year I have decided that I am going to make sure that I keep busy and get things done right away instead of prolonging them. By doing this, it’ll also help me to achieve all my other future goals.
Another of my 2020 goals is to spend more time with people that matter. As humans, we can all get a little caught up in life at times and forget about those who really matter. At the end of the day, we do only get one life and we are only here for a limited time – so we should show family and friends how much they mean to us! I’d also really like to travel more this year. Travelling, as most of you will know from my previous blog post, is one of my favourite things to do. I find it so refreshing and exciting visiting new places and making new memories. I also want to try my hardest to read more this year as I actually do love reading but never feel like I have the time. In reality, of course I have enough time but regrettably, I spend too much time on my phone. This is however, something that I am going to work on.
Anyway, enough about my goals. I really wanted to create this post to ultimately inspire my readers to get thinking about your own personal New Year goals. Write them down, get inspiration from Pinterest and take a moment to think of ways you can realistically achieve your future goals. Once you’ve got your mind set on them, stay motivated and work on achieving them everyday. Make a difference and focus on the positives in 2020; just think about how rewarding it will feel when you have all your goals ticked off at the end of next year.
I hope 2020 brings everyone lots of happiness and success. Happy New Year everyone!
