I never thought I’d say it but here you are: I’m addicted to TikTok. At the start of Lockdown 1, I downloaded the app as a bit of a joke, and purely to cure my lockdown boredom – but here we are, a year later and I’m procrastinating on the app every two seconds. For those who aren’t familiar with TikTok – may I just ask, WHERE have you been for the last year?! The app is a mix of music, lip-sync clips and micro-video content, and has become pretty inescapable in the last year. For many it has brought lockdown entertainment, and for others it has become an outlet for self-expression.
We’ve seen the likes of celebrities, influencers, beauty gurus, and just ordinary people producing enjoyable and amusing content that has helped a huge number of people get through midst of negativity that we have experienced since March 2020. It wasn’t until last summer that my love for this app started to grow. I started to discover new accounts, and became heavily inspired by the videos I was watching. The app is full of creative and innovative clips, and has certainly become one of my main sources of inspiration when it comes to producing my own content.
For my fellow content creators out there, if you’re not already on TikTok – you truly are missing out, and it’s definitely time to rethink. Not only is it the perfect chance to direct new followers to your other socials, but it offers a much higher probability of going viral than the Instagram reel algorithm.
If you struggle with fashion and styling inspiration, again, TikTok is the place to be. I found it extremely hard to pick out my 5 favourite fashion content creators on the app as there is just so many amazing creators on there. However the ones I have chosen provide me with weekly (if not, daily) inspiration for all things lifestyle, beauty and fashion, and I just had to share them with you.
I hope you enjoy reading this post, and I hope you feel just as inspired as I do after watching these talented fashion-focused females do their thing. Leonie Hanne
The one and only. Leonie is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to the influencer industry. I love her sass, confidence and her style is impeccable and SO cool. Not to mention her incredible shoe and handbag collection – honestly, it’s to die for. If you’re a lover of luxury, and want all the street style inspo, she is definitely one to follow. Her TikToks are full of personality and with a following of 1.2M, you’ll be wondering why you haven’t followed her sooner.
Emma Jean Clarke
If you have TikTok, you’ve probably seen Emma on your FYP (‘For You Page’ aka TikTok’s timeline). Not only is she #hairgoals, but her style is super refreshing and cool. Her page gives me all the 90s summer vibes and I always enjoy every video she posts. I’ll definitely be taking some inspo from her once I’m back out having drinks with friends!
Fashion Influx AKA Lydia Rose
The queen of fashion hacks! I’ve followed Lydia on Instagram for a good couple of years now and I absolutely LOVE her content. She is a fellow northerner, and I often find her very relatable – I’m also loving her current house renovations on her Insta – the decor is the epitome of Pinterest perfection so get yourself over there. I love this little hack she posted last month – she shows you the top ways to get the most out of your wardrobe and all of her hacks are so fab! A must-follow.
Camila Coelho
With 8.9M followers on Instagram, Camila serves some serious looks on a daily basis. As a true fan, it only felt natural to give her a follow on TikTok too, and she does not disappoint! Her colourful, cool style is bound to inspire you as she is clued up to all the upcoming trends – you will want her whole wardrobe, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. Prepare to step outside your comfort zone if following her style advice, but boy oh boy will you be looking seriously good!
Xenia Adonts
Another absolute fave of mine – and definitely more of a recent find! For my uni degree I was doing some research on the current Forbes 30 Under 30 candidates and I came across Xenia. As a successful business woman, Forbes 30 Under 30 candidate, AND an absolute fashionista, it is absolutely no surprise that she is a huge inspiration to myself. She has such a fun, sassy and warming personality, you are guaranteed to fall in love with her right after watching a few of her clips. I have also been loving some of her latest YouTube videos where she takes you along on her business trips, talks through her top finance tips and shares her fave wardrobe essentials!
