With lockdown restrictions lifting, I thought it was only right to do a round up of the best spring bags on the market right now. I don’t know about anyone else, but I definitely think a bag can make or break an outfit. All of the bags I have included in this edit are super affordable, and also the perfect addition to any spring look – day or night! I have to admit the baguette bag is a firm favourite of mine this year, and if you follow me over on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve worked this out by now… I just love how chic they look, and they’re the perfect size for an everyday bag in the city.
As cafes, restaurants and shops start to open, I am really wanting to grow my handbag collection this spring to ensure I have a handbag for (almost) every occasion. As I love wearing monochrome outfits, a handbag is the perfect way to break up an outfit with a pop of colour – something I am really trying to challenge myself to do this coming season as I’m wanting to experiment more with my style. Saying this though, longevity will still be my number one priority as I want to ensure the bags I buy will see me through the many
seasons to come.
Recently I have been pondering over the idea of investing in a designer handbag – but as a university student, this idea is probably going to have to be put on hold for a little while. Nevertheless, I am loving Jacquemus’ collection this spring and the Chloe Mini C Bag in Black has been on my wishlist for a good 10 months now. If you’re like me and you’re drooling over the designer bags flooding FarFetch and Net-A-Porter’s new in section right now, you’ll be delighted to know that there are so many gorgeous dupes on the high street this spring and I am going to highlight just a few!
Out of all the high street brands, Mango and H&M are definitely the ones killing it this season, as they cater for all budgets and they really do have a bag for every occasion. I am loving the mix of canvas and classic styles in particular at the moment, and I hope this blog posts illustrates just how easy it is to get the luxe look for a little less.

The Baguette
As I’ve already mentioned, in my eyes, the baguette bag is the star of the show this season. I love that this Fendi-born trend is back on the market with so many versatile designs and colours available. It really is the wear-everywhere kind of bag and you’ll be surprised how many outfits these bags pair well with. A great way to elevate any look to make it more chic and stylish and perfect for those post-lockdown events.
The Summer Tote
Probably the most versatile bag you could own for the summer. Ideal for holding all your daily essentials, or heading to the beach for the day. They come in so many different sizes, with cross body straps and handles, making for an extremely practical wardrobe staple. In fact, I have just purchased the Loewe dupe H&M have brought out this season for myself – it’s so gorgeous and after seeing it all over everyone’s Insta stories last week, I just knew I had to get my hands on it before this beauty sold out. I’m sure they will restock it soon so remember to sign up for notifications for when it comes back in stock – or you could always try in store as it’s likely they will have some there seeing as the shops have now reopened – YAY!
The Cross Body
If you’re someone who gets a bit paranoid about losing their belongings, or getting things stolen in the city – the cross body is for you. Along with the baguette bag, the cross body is the ultimate sensible everyday bag. I love pairing a cross body bag with a summer dress in the warmer seasons as its a great way to break up an outfit – and I’m loving that so many brands are bringing out summer inspired ones this year! I am so here for the woven and canvas inspired cross body’s this spring…
The Other Colours
Now, you know how much I love an all black outfit… but there’s something about adding a pop of colour to a look in summer that gives it the wow factor. Matching the colour of your accessories and keeping your outfit plain and monochrome is one of the many ways to make an outfit look more expensive and a lot more put together. I am loving hot pink right now, and also loving emerald green – I think both of these colours look great paired with black – very designer-esque. For spring, pastel colours are also hot right now and the mini bag trend is too cute not to buy into. If you’re a real colour lover, and looking for more colour inspo, I’d recommend following @oliviaandalice over on Instagram who are the queens of colour!
The June 21st
I know I’m not the only one dying to get back out to the bars, mainly to wear all these cute outfits I’ve been buying during lockdown, so I’ve done a little research and I’m presenting to you the best of bags suitable for that June 21st event. Whether it’s going for a meal, drinks with the girls or someone’s belated birthday celebrations, you want to be looking on point for the affair, and a cute bag for the occasion is an absolute must. I am loving the Bottega Veneta inspired designs that we saw were hot in 2020, and they are most definitely not going out of style just yet so are 100% worth investing in… I’d pair this style of bag with some cycling shorts, bralette and oversized blazer with a simple heel for a girls night out – but if cycling shorts aren’t your cup of tea, pair with a satin mini dress for a polished yet edgy look.
